Columbia Airlines (CA) is an airline that was featured in the 1974 air disaster film Airport 1975.

Description[]

In the film, Columbia Airlines flight 409 collides with a light aircraft, either killing or injuring the cockpit crew. While a chief pilot instructs a stewardess how to fly it, they have to get a qualified pilot on board to land it, by a mid-air boarding. In the end the plane safely lands.

Columbia Airlines is based on American Airlines in their 1970-2013 livery. As a matter of fact, an American Boeing 747-100 was used in production.

The aircraft used for filming was N9675, a Boeing 747-123 rented from American Airlines. It was delivered in May 25, 1971 and was converted to a freighter not long after and later served with TMA Lebanon. It went to UPS in 1984 and stayed with them until it was retired to Roswell in 2005 and broken up in 2010.
